LOVE: LOVE GOD &
Jesus’ life, ministry, and teaching are profound and marvelous. They are full of life, and intended to inspire a revolution. Revolutions are always sparked by an idea. An idea that is so clear, compelling, and catalytic that people are inspired to overcome the status quo. His death, resurrection,
and Spirit are what give life to the revolution. The essence of the revolution is, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind … And… You shall love your neighbor as yourself” [Matt. 22:37-40].
HISTORY: A SNAPSHOT OF
WHERE GOD HAS LED US
God has done exceedingly and abundantly beyond anything we could have imagined. Calvary Nexus began in 1996 with a handful of people meeting at a park. We moved to a storefront and continued to grow. In 2004, we purchased land and developed our campus on Mobil Ave. By 2009, we had outgrown the campus on Mobil and opened a second campus on Lewis Rd. in Camarillo. We started a teaching team to offer live teaching of the same Bible passage at both campuses. The new Lewis Rd. location immediately offered a free youth center to our community, “The
Bridge.” Our platform for influence expanded beyond our community to reach the world for Christ through: global missions, a global church planting initiative, and global church leadership resources. Yet we have never lost sight of our world – our neighbors where we live, work, study, and play. Through the years we have seen hundreds come to Christ and be baptized. Presently we are seeking to simplify life and ministry by unifying to one campus to create margin for our long-term vision.
VISION: WHERE WE BELIEVE
GOD IS LEADING US
We are passionate to love God, and our neighbors. God is calling us to saturate our community with the gospel through Christ-centered neighborhood groups. Imagine the potential of connected groups where people learn to make Jesus king, develop as spiritual leaders, discover God’s love, and display it to one another and their
neighbors. Imagine reaching our world for Christ one neighbor at a time. People will experience: personal restoration, thriving marriages, families strengthened to pass their faith to the next generation. There will be a workplace and school witness for Christ. Neighborhoods will be transformed communities for Christ.
Neighborhood Groups are established by connecting people in relationship where they live, work, study, and play. The groups generally meet weekly, and are the primary place where we learn to be Christ’s disciples. The goal is to make Jesus king in every realm of our lives: personal, marriage, family, community
career, and calling. Bible learning in a group context will develop Christ-like character. These groups will magnify Jesus and experience God’s presence during the week, and as we gather to worship as a large community of faith on the weekends.
We demonstrate our love for God by our love for others. Group participants will learn to display tangible acts of love for one another. These may include, but not be limited to: compassion, empathy, prayer, meals, recreation, hospital visits, and helping with needs. We display the love of God to our neighbors as we
We plan to plant five additional churches in the next ten years through our local church to reach our neighbors in the U.S. and Baja California, Mexico. We will continue to develop the Calvary Church Planting Network [CCPN] a global
church planting initiative in the Calvary Chapel movement that has supported hundreds of churches; and continue to invest in and support global missions to reach the world with the gospel of Jesus.
