On behalf of our church staff, and the entire community of Calvary Nexus we want to welcome you and thank you for checking out our website.
Where Christ has led us?
God has done exceedingly and abundantly beyond anything we could have imagined. Calvary Nexus began in 1996 with a handful of people meeting at a park. We moved to a storefront and continued to grow. In 2004, we purchased land and developed our campus on Mobil Ave. By 2009, we had outgrown the campus on Mobil and opened a second campus on Lewis Rd. in Camarillo. We started a teaching team to offer live teaching of the same Bible passage at both campuses. The new Lewis Rd. location immediately offered a free youth center to our community, “The Bridge.” Our platform for influence expanded beyond our community to reach the world for Christ through: global missions, a global church planting initiative, and global church leadership resources. Yet we have never lost sight of our community – our neighbors where we live, work, study, and play. Through the years we have seen hundreds come to Christ and be baptized. Presently we are seeking to simplify life and ministry by unifying to one campus to create margin for our long-term vision.
Where Christ is Leading us?
Our Ten-Year Vision: to saturate our community with Christ-centered Neighborhood Groups [NG] where we learn to love God and neighbors better.
What is a Neighborhood Group?
Neighborhood Groups are established by connecting people in relationship where they live, work, study, and play. The groups generally meet weekly, and are the primary place where we learn how to be Christ’s disciples. Groups will discover God’s love and learn to: love God, and their neighbors better (within and beyond the group where they live, work, study, and play).
What will it look like when we get there?
Our desire is for every person who is part of the Calvary Nexus community to participate in a neighborhood group. At the end of ten years (2026), we see over 200 Christ-centered Neighborhood Groups [NG] saturating every neighborhood of our community. These groups will magnify Jesus and experience God’s presence during the week, and as we gather to worship as a large community of faith on the weekends. We will demonstrate the love of God as we befriend and build relationships with our neighbors where we live, work, study, and play. Not as a project or program, but a value Christ commanded. When we connect with Christ and others, and develop authentic Christian community, we will be transformed.
What are the benefits for you?
If you would like to be part of a healthy local church where people seek to be transformed for Christ this may be the place for you. If you like the idea of loving God and living His word in relationship with others we welcome you. If the vision of saturating a community with Christ-centered Neighborhood Groups where we learn to love God and neighbors better is exciting please join us. And if you’re visiting the site to take advantage of the abundant Christian living and church leadership resources we’ve developed, help yourself they’re free.
